Billions of points of light coming together ~
Hello ~ I’m Deb, mother of Sacred Living.
When people ask me how Sacred Living came into being, I’m often transported back to two memories from my early childhood. I was sitting in my front yard on a small rock wall when a tulip poplar blossom fell from the tree, landed in my lap and spoke to me. “Tenderness,” it said. I understood it as an invitation ~ and a command: be tender and generous. I believe nature interacts with us and shows us, by example, the way of service.
In my adult years, I have studied with meditation masters and spiritual teachers ~ and danced under the moon to attune to kindness and generosity. I’ve also walked through the fire and needed to find my own way, my own center. At other times, as I trudged through mud, I realized life is not so black and white.
No matter what is happening in the outer world or in my inner world, Thomas Merton’s observation always brings me front and center ~ “There is a point of truth ~ It is like a pure diamond, blazing with the invisible light of heaven. It is in everybody, and if we could see it we would see these billions of points of light coming together in the face and blaze of a sun that would make all the darkness and cruelty of life vanish completely.”
Every day I strive to return to the diamond point of light for here, I find hope and mercy. Flowers are some of my treasured guides. Trees are my guardians and companions. I try, as best I can, to make a difference in the world by continually practicing to open to love and to find peace within my heart. Within Sacred Living, I attempt to manifest both my mission and my calling ~ compassionate presence.
From my mountain home, I watch as the sun and moon rise and fall, season after season, and I am continuously reminded that our truest home is found in the unified rhythm of our breath with nature and in the merging points of light which burn inside of our hearts.
Come ~ join hands with me on this sacred path.
With love ~
Deb

“Allow the heart silently to whisper
the words of mercy that heal,
that open.
“May I dwell in the heart.
May I be free from suffering.
May I be healed.
May I be at peace.
May my heart flower.”
